Advancing Sustainable Waste Management: SOHAR Port and Freezone Collaborate with Elite Hazardous Waste Management Solution (FZC)

SOHAR Port and Freezone entered into a land lease agreement with Elite Hazardous Waste Management Solution (FZC) to establish a Hazardous Waste Treatment Plant in SOHAR Freezone. The objective of the agreement is to enhance waste management practices in the region while promoting sustainability and fostering the circular economy cluster in SOHAR Port and Freezone. With a total investment of $3.5 million, the plant, spanning across an area of 10,000 sqm, is designed to handle industrial waste in accordance with both local and international regulations, ensuring an environment free from pollution. The plant’s output will include heavy oil suitable for utilization in machinery with slow movement and low-contamination carbon dust appropriate for the cement and road construction industries. Shiv Sood, Co-Owner of Elite Hazardous Waste Management Solution (FZC), expressed his thoughts on the agreement, stating, “Our collaboration with SOHAR Freezone marks a significant milestone in our pursuit of sustainable waste management. Through the implementation of cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices, we are determined to contribute to the circular economy cluster and lead the way towards a more environmentally friendly future.” Omar al Mahrizi, CEO of SOHAR Freezone and DCEO of SOHAR Port, emphasized the importance of this agreement, stating, “This represents a significant milestone that strengthens SOHAR Freezone’s position as a premier destination for leading waste management solutions. By attracting Elite Hazardous Waste Management Solution (FZC) to establish their business in SOHAR Freezone, we are reaffirming our unwavering commitment to sustainable development and enhancing our role in driving a more environmentally responsible future. This agreement further reinforces our dedication to resource efficiency and aligns with the circular economy principles outlined in Oman Vision 2040.” Initially, the plant will have a production capacity of 40 tons per day, projected to increase to 80 tonnes per day within one year.
